Complex Flat File as a source in DataStage

Use the Complex Flat File (CFF) connector to read data from a complex flat file.

  1. Drag the CFF connector to the DataStage® canvas and double-click the connector.
  2. On the Stage tab, specify information about the connector data:
    1. On the File Options tab, provide details about the file to read.
    2. On the Record Options tab, describe the format of the data in the file.
    3. On the Records tab, specify record type and columns for the data. Click a record to view and edit columns. Click Save columns to create a schema asset or Import columns to use an existing one.
    4. If the connector is reading a file that contains multiple record types, on the Records ID tab, define the record ID constraint for each record.
    5. On the NLS map tab, you can specify a map.
    6. On the Advanced tab, specify Execution mode, Combinability mode, and Preserve Partitioning.
  3. On the Output tab, specify how to read data from the source file:
    1. On the Columns tab, select columns from your records to pass on to output links. You can also select one of three options for array handling: blank, as-is, or denormalize.
    2. Optional: On the Constraint tab, use the Expression builder to define a constraint to filter the rows on each output link.
  4. Click Save and return to save your changes.
